American McGee's Alice
Alice arrived at the arena and took the second piece of the Jabberwock's Eye Staff located at the center. After she retrieved it, the Mad Hatter appeared from his control room and attacked her with his Automatons. She eventually came out victorious as Hatter's head exploded, causing the two weights of the clock to move. She jumped on one of the weights to reach the door inside the clock building and go through the portal.
When she reached the Gryphon's room, she found the cage slowly opening, enabling the Gryphon to escape. The Gryphon offered his help to become Alice's commander and gather the forces to fight against the Queen of Hearts.
The Hatter's arena was held up by chains from the surrounding towers with hook tips and had three large clock buildings, where two of the buildings summoned Automatons during the fight with the Mad Hatter. The main clock building was a grandfather clock with a big clock having astrological symbols instead of numbers, two weights, a pendulum with the Mercury symbol on it, and a door containing a portal inside it. There were floating cogs, bolts, and pocket watches in the dark sky. The floor of the arena was a clock face with the Mercury symbol in the center and the hands showed six o'clock during the battle with the Hatter and nine thirty after defeating him.
Residents and creatures
- Mad Hatter
- In the Spanish edition of the game, the level is called "Sobre la Cara", which translates to "On The Face".
- The equivalent of About Face in the final release of American McGee's Alice may have been the Mad Hatter's Castle found in the Wonderland map of the old EA website as Alice also faces Mad Hatter in this area.
- In Alice: Madness Returns, the name "About Face" is present in Chapter 1, but not as an actual location. Like its American McGee's Alice counterpart, it essentially happened in Hatter's Domain and greatly involved facing the Mad Hatter.
