  • The Streamdress infobox is not linking to the image gallery.

I tried renaming the category from "Steamdress images" to "Steamdress dress images" like the rest, but it doesn't seem to fix it. Please help me~

    • It's on me ahahah. When I was adding dress infoboxes, the name parameter has "Streamdress". In the infobox itself, I use a switch for the unique dress articles and Steamdress is included in that, so with the extra character in the name it went to default but it's a non-existent cat so it will not show up no matter how many times a new cat is created. I'm amazed no one has noticed for so long o_O

  • Thanks for your help with the wiki work.

I think we should add an Alice: Asylum banner on the front page navigation. However, I think we should directly link it to the Alice: Asylum article, instead of the "Characters/Locations/Weapons/etc" menu.

I also think we should make a new poll about Asylum, but I'm not sure what. Maybe "Will you help donate to help fund Alice: Asylum"?

This. Yes on the banner. Definitely. But I'm not much active on following the updates and I'm not a Patron plus I'm starting work soon so I can't actively look out on good designs. The banner can be on top of the slider and doesn't have to actually replace it cuz the thing is about the released games/shorts as compared to letting more people know about AA via the banner. We should also probably need to have a perma section for signing up to the AA email list or a link to American's Patreon if they're still interested to back him up.

I also think we should make a new poll about Asylum, but I'm not sure what. Maybe "Will you help donate to help fund Alice: Asylum"?

Yes to the poll too. We can maybe ask the community what poll they'd like that's related to AA? We already did a poll that's funding related to AO. I can't think of something rn as well.

    • Sadly, I don't know how to add it to the portal, so I'll leave it to you. "Template:MainPage_Contents" looks too confusing for me. We just need to let visitors know that AA even exists.

As for the poll, I don't think we have to ask the community since the community of this wiki isn't very active at all. However, I don't think we should make an obvious poll like "Are you excited for Alice: Asylum" since it's an obvious yes. I get that it's hard to think of a poll since AA is just a proposal at the moment. We'll think of something.

What no, it shouldn't be that page. It doesn't need to be touched at all. I think you mean {{Maintop}} and looking at its contents, what I meant by above the slider is above {{MainPage Contents}} because that contains the slider :) Or you can also put it above {{Home-Nav}}, your call.

  • On the category exhibition, Alice's image is of the hobby horse (due to the article being semi-protected).

I am deeply upset and disturbed by this trifling matter, as I do not think it adequately and accurately represents Alice.

How shall we ever fix this disaster?

  • Hiya, just popping in to tell you something! :) Have you been watching Mr. McGee's streams of "Alice"?

The other day, Mr. McGee was doing a Q&A session about "Alice: Asylum" (see: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jknH8WjrWFM), and guess what? I was pleasantly surprised when he went on this very wikia to access Dr. Wilson's casebook! :D Well, he tried to access it, anyway. He couldn't load the web page for some reason. Lol! ^_^; Anyway, I think it's really cool that Mr. McGee is aware of the wikia and acknowledges it. When a creator of the work that the wikia is dedicated to is aware of it and actively uses it is an awesome thing, in my opinion! Anyway, yeah, that's all I wanted to say. :)

    • Hey!

I'm still way, wayyyyyyyy behind (got sidetracked by several series ;-;), so I haven't seen the latest streams. But that's pretty amazing! Sad it didn't load though. Thanks for the update :)

  • Hey :)

I'm a part of FANDOM's Community Technical team. Part of what our li'l group does is to review JavaScript changes on local wikis. When we have to reject revisions, it's normally clear, cause there's a big red box next to the revision and a link that says Why?.

But the situation here was a li'l complicated, so I wanted to drop by and make sure you understood what was going on. The reason for rejection can be found at MediaWiki talk:Common.js. But I did resubmit a major part of your revision by making sure all the imports were removed from the top of the page. Obviously, it'd be unnecessary to have those continuing after you've (very helpfully!) moved the imports to MediaWiki:ImportJS.

I think the fix for the rest of your revisions is pretty easy, but I wanted to let you make those changes and resubmit, just in case you had a different thought.

Thanks for all your edits! I've really enjoyed seeing all the creative stuff you've done in the last week!

    • Heyy,

Thanks for taking the time to explain :D I saw you over at pt-br.alice when I was making my rounds so I thought I could help with the other Alice Wikias' ImportJS where I can.

Regarding the reason for rejection, I was partially following Avatar Wiki's icons.js. They've also used #PageHeader to prepend their icons although it is enclosed in an if statement. I've checked the pages where the icons are implemented and I noticed that the icons are usually after the #PageHeader. Does their implementation also result to the same reason as the rejection? Because I am planning to just fully follow their implementation as Thai's code adjustment had been accepted. I didn't follow it over at Avatar Answers icons.js because there's no need for interwiki links and the length of the title makes the header too messy if I move the icons in the same location, so I'm unsure if the usage of #PageHeader is allowable in that sense.

      Thanks so much :)

    • Hey again :)

Sorry I didn't see this before now. As you know, from time to time FANDOM changes things about its CSS classes and IDs. Sometimes, we remove CSS elements entirely, and other times we change the way they work or our policy on whether local wikis can change them.

#PageHeader is one of these IDs that at one time in the recent time we might have allowed to be manipulated--and therefore why Avatar Wiki got their code approved--but now we really don't.

        Loading editor
    • Hi!

I sent a query via Special:Contact regarding this around the same week of the rejected revision because I just found out that the Help:Customization policy has some exceptions regarding icons. I also actually asked if .page-header__contribution would be a good alternative on where to place the icons. Rappy then pointed me over to Executor and suggested I update the old hover-over expanded image (if in any case you want to double check it's in #344954 in the Help Center, ignore my embarrassing mistake with the toggler T_T). I looked around Wookiepedia's JS and found the EraIcons in MediaWiki:Wikia.js is using Avatar Wiki's JS snippet as well.

Since you mentioned it shouldn't be allowed, I think it would be helpful for the customization policy to be updated and maybe include which CSS class or ID should not be used? Because the customization policy currently specifies this:

      • Addition of icons for the purpose of content navigation, no larger than 25x25px, positioned to the left of the interlanguage drop-down menu (or directly above the edit drop-down if no interlanguage menu is present)

And I think others would end up using #PageHeader too due to the wording in this case :)

  • Hiya! :) Remember me? It's okay if you don't, since it's been a while since I stopped by here on the wiki.

I wanted to let you know, if you haven't heard already, but Mr. McGee is currently doing a live stream playthrough with "Alice: Madness Returns". See here~ https://www.youtube.com/user/obnard/videos

He started doing it about 4 weeks ago, as a way to raise money for another Kickstarter project, "Out of the Woods" (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/americanmcgee/out-of-the-woods-2) of his (which was successfully funded). I found it about myself, like, the other day at night, when I dropped by to see how he's doing since Spicy Horse got shut down. I'm still watching his gameplay videos, and I'm seriously love watching him play it. I didn't know if you and the other active members knew about it, but again, I just wanted to let you know.

I HIGHLY recommend you guys watch ALL of his gameplay videos. When he plays, he talks about the production of the "Alice" franchise - characters, symbolism, meanings of certain scenes, pre-production things (demos, things that got cut out, etc.), and the future of "Alice". He mentioned he's currently in talks with EA again, and he hasn't given up on it. Fans get to ask him questions during the streams, too, so if you guys have a YT channel, pop in and take the opportunity to ask him questions (unfortunately, I don't have one. T__T). A lot of stuff he says can be used on the wiki, I believe. He's still not done with it, but he's definitely set on finishing it and then maybe even doing a playthrough with the first "Alice" game. The information he reveals in the game is interesting. Plus, it's really fun watching Mr. McGee die so many times in his own game. XD

Also, I'm not sure if you guys haven't heard, Mr. McGee started a website he sell "Alice"-related merchandise, called "Mysterious" (https://mysterious.americanmcgee.com/). The stuff he has on there is really beautiful and awesome. He said several times he wants to use both the "Out of the Woods" Kickstarter and his website to help fund "Alice" in the future. So, spread the word if you can. :)

Anyway, that's all I wanted to say. As always, you guys are doing such an amazing job with the wiki, and I'm really happy to see that you guys are still active and haven't given up on the series. :D See you later~.

    • Urk, I know what you mean. Being broke will always be part of college life hahaha. And really? Wow, that's really lucky!

Pfft, I know right? They already took down the Storybook for mobile and they still don't ease up on allowing American to get the Alice rights back.

I like the Vorpal Purse and Vorpal Umbrella. Somedayyyyy when I get a job and saved up, I might get one xD And same here, it will be such a huge accomplishment too! From games to fashion.

When I saw the link in my feed in FB, I clicked so fast and signed up. Please let this be THE chance for Alice 3 to be accepted.

@Fiery: what the heck, wow first time I heard that kinda thing. At least you were refunded o_O Maybe you do need to contact American through the provided email in the Mysterious site. At the very least you'd be able to know why PayPal considered it fraud and if you're still interested to buy it, you can try again.

    • Sadly, yes. All part of the college life, which I am so sick of! T _ T It killed me creatively to the point I barely read anything or wrote anything during the summer, not that I really had the time to since I was really busy with other things. I finally got my Human!Cheshire x Alice fic done last year, and I'm actually surprised of the reception I got from fans. I didn't even think it was that good, and I know I have a few mistakes in it that I missed when proof-reading (my fault since I was rushing to finish it). ^_^;

When I had to get a new phone, I had to download a program to transfer the Storybook app onto my new phone since EA suspended it. I seriously did NOT want to lose the Storybook app, so I spent hours looking for a program to help transfer the app to my new phone. It's now safely in my new phone, but it was a pain in the butt to do. It's so unfair that EA won't allow Mr. McGee to buy the rights back. It's his video game, for Pete's sake. I get that it's "just the way it is for business", but EA's treatment for the series is seriously screwed up. :(

Same! The designs are really cute and gothic. :D It'd be great to get more "Alice"-inspired merchandise.

I signed up right away, too! :) I'll do everything and anything I can to support Mr. McGee. A lot of news websites are writing articles about the release, but I don't see any articles from hotshot websites like IGN, Playstation, Gamespot, Kotaku etc. writing articles about (I'm just looking through Google News for results). One of my goals when I become a freelance writer is to help Mr. McGee by writing articles about his plans for "Alice" and publish them on the major video game websites. That way, it can get more exposure.

@Fieryfurnace999: Maybe PayPal deemed it fraudulent because "Mysterious" isn't a well-known website? They probably think it's sketchy. 0_0 I thought all you had to do was get an account on the website and complete the transaction and then Mr. McGee spends everything off to you. But yeah, definitely contact Mr. McGee and see what the problem was.

  • Hey Lia, when you can, can you please fix the broken link to "Prologue" in certain references sections? The video was deleted on YouTube, so I deleted it on the wiki. It's reference number 11 on Alice's article, for example. Thank you~

  • Yo!

I'm new here! My primary intent is to clean up the grammar, punctuation, and general writing of the articles where necessary. However, I do have a question regarding the contents of some of the trivia sections.

Are fan theories allowed in the trivia sections here? I ask because I have seen some trivia in various articles that are largely unsubstantiated.

Would I be overstepping if I removed instances of trivia like these while going through the articles fixing grammar mistakes and the like?

    Examples:

    • "Alice also lacks a defined clear romantic love interest, which is rare for many female protagonists, likely because the developers did not want to give the impression the games are about Alice finding and falling in love with a man to rescue her. Some fans pair Alice with Carpenter, and somehow, Bumby of all people." (I don't think that fandom shipping belongs in the trivia section, and, as far as I know, there has been no statement by any of the staff involved pertaining to the "man rescuing her" suggestion.)
    • "There is a correlation between Pris and the Jabberwock. A fan theory is that due to the fact Pris was killed by Alice in the Beta of the game that Pris died after being pushed off the roof by Alice. After the rooftop Jabberwock cutscene, Pris is not heard from or seen again throughout the game, nor is the Jabberwock (other than art and imagery) until Alice finds his remains. It is possible that in the real world of London, this is Alice encountering Pris' body." (This speculation is predicated on content that was scrapped during development.)
    • "It is possible that Bumby's personality and his attraction for Alice's sister (and possibly Alice) were based around the rumors and controversy that surrounded Charles Dodgson, such as the suggestions of pedophilia. It was also hinted that Dodgson had a relationship with Alice's sister Lorina." (What "hinted" that Dodgson had a relationship with Lorina? Is there any evidence at all that Bumby's role in the story was influenced by pedophilia claims levied at Dodgson?)
    • "It is possible that Pris Witless knew what was happening, and was one of Bumby's accomplices." (What is this based on?)
    • "It is possible that Bumby murdered the parents of those who stayed at his orphanage in order to increase the scope of his crime ring, as he did this to Alice's parents." (Evidence that may suggest this?)

    • You did an excellent job on clarifying some of the theories. As for the article itself... it's.... okay, I guess? I just think collecting every possibility, uncertainty or theory on a wiki and putting them on a single article sounds like unnecessarily difficult work. I still want them also on Trivia sections, although I would like those to be more detailed and clarified too.

    • Hello, sorry to intrude. I don't know what agreement you both have reached on but I'm moving the page in your userpage namespace and I'm removing the nonexistent cat because that will show up in the special page that caters for nonexistent categories. Please also move your discussion to either one of your walls :P or if this needs a community consensus, please move it to Board:Queensland. I keep getting email notifs.

If ever there's an agreement, it would most likely belong under the Miscellaneous category like the Ib Wikia. But I will handle the categories myself :)

  • For some reason, some character infoboxes (Mad Hatter, White Rabbit, Duchess, Mock Turtle) are defaulting to their AMA instead of AMR, and the quotes aren't changing. Can you please look into it? Thanks.

      Loading editor
    • I don't see this problem on my side, on any of the page. Did you clear your cache or bypass it via ctrl + F5? If that hasn't work, it might have just been your connection since it hasn't loaded the page fully. JS is usually applied after the whole page has fully loaded afaik. My usual indicator is when a page fully loads, it instantly switches to AMR as default and its respective quote. I didn't touch any JS that affects that in Common.js so there shouldn't be any problem. :)

They still push the infobox down sadly, but maybe we can find a fix eventually. At least it's not a prominent issue anymore. :)
