Skool is an area in American McGee's Alice that Alice must enter in order to pursue the White Rabbit. Like a school, it has a gym, a library, a theater, and even a few classrooms and desks scattered around. But due to Wonderland's corrupt state, gaping holes appear frequently inside, along with insane children who appear to be victims of the Mad Hatter. If Alice manages to leap into any of the gaping holes, she will fall to her death.
The Skool is constantly rocking back and forth throughout the game, but inside of the Skool we cannot see this and Alice (presumably) cannot feel it rocking. The Skool is where Alice first finds the Croquet Mallet and where she first encounters several enemies including Boojums. Alice can also find a Rage Box in the gym of the Skool.
The Skool plays a major role in the pursuit of the White Rabbit as it leads Alice to the Vale of Tears in the Wonderland Woods and contains the recipe and ingredients to a potion that will make Alice small in order to get there.
Residents and creaturesEdit
The outside of the school is a long, square path that is riddled with Enemies (Boojums and Card Guards) that is created from stone. It is in a pitch black area with no other life surrounding it. The edges of the path are brown and extremely worn. The Skool itself is decaying immensely and swinging from side to side on either of its hinges. The skool is a wooden structure and appears extremely bent in places.
The Reception is a large room that caters to most doors to most primary area (that are not classrooms) including the Theatre and the Library. It is a particularly large area that is the first area that Alice encounters that has a gaping hole in the ground. It also has a few enemies that Alice needs to get rid of.
The Theatre is a large room that contains actors, but no audience. The actors themselves are simply Insane Children preforming one acting repeatedly and reusing sounds repeatedly. They cannot be killed or disturbed. Here, you find Elder Gnome who has a conversation with Alice on the plans that they will proceed to complete throughout the Skool. They are interrupted by Card Guards attempting to kill Alice, however, so Elder Gnome disappears quite quickly, leaving Alice to fend for herself.
The Theatre is a large room with many red seats. It features an isle at either side of the seats and a large theatre stage that has three large pictures hanging from the curtain top.
The Library is a primary area in the Skool. It is three stories high and contains no roof, allowing Alice to see into the night sky. Alice must collect books from this area that will fly up to the third floor and create a path for her to get to a book of magic that contains the potion she needs. The area is ripe with Card Guards attempting to kill Alice. The library also leads to the Planetarium.
In this classroom, Alice can create her potion by putting the ingredients into the condenser, which Elder Gnome demonstrates. It is a fairly small classroom with very little equipment. This is where Alice creates her shrinking potion.
