The last Lizzie is definitely fan art. I've seen it on deviantART before. It may be the same with the Mock Turtle pictures because that style is very common for fans to remake.
While we can't do much for them as none of us are English/Russian fluent, they do seem pretty active. Maybe we can offer them some of our design efforts and templates? Hopefully to keep the wiki consistant over the language board.
Looking more into the wiki, they really have no good layout. It's absolutely dreadful. They have links to stupid things, most of their images are fan art and it's in quite some disrepair. I kind of wish that people would ask for our help before starting our wiki in another language if they need it.
The Mock Turtle images are legit, the bottom of the page where it was used was from the website of a guy who was hired by Spicy Horse. but he is not included in the credited artists, unfortunately. He's in the AMR credits but not included in the Artbook, sadly.
o.o We should probably make an "Alice Wiki in Your Language" or something project page. That aside, yes, maybe we can poke the wiki's admins and hopefully they will reply back.
Maybe just for the Russian wiki. I'll try and see if we can get ownership over the Admin-dead wikis like the Spanish and Polish one. I've attempted the Spanish one before but it was decined because I've been inactive recently. If I get Adminships I'll give them to the Admins of this wiki and we can bulldoze the hell out of the other wikis and rebuild. Does that sound good? I know it's extra work on top of this wiki, especially with a third game coming up, but we can't just let them rot, can we? It shouldn't be too hard to clean the wikis and at least make a ton of "wanted pages" underneath a pretty wiki theme.
I know! That's the same thing I thought. Some aspects are kind of hideous though. Maybe best to bury those >_> I've noticed the language links on a few wiki. I think that would be great to have. I think we're large enough to have something like that definitely.
Surprisingly, when cleaning up the Spanish wiki, it's exactly the same when I copy pasted some stuff from here. Works just fine with no barrier. If you type into the search bar the address then the "Template:" bit and then write whatever it comes up exactly the same. It also changes it from template to the local language. You can also use google translate to find or name most of the templates because names are so simplistic. That's a really great plus :D We might have some problems with some templates but it probably works the same with eveything.
Most of them barely have communities other than Russian. The Russian community seem to be the only one putting effort into originality, but hopefully they'll enjoy a proposition. I'll see what I can do about applying for Polish admin first. I'll put a form in now.
Actually, I just did some slight research. The person who has been editing isn't actually an admin. There are only six registered users and one admin, who hasn't edited since April 20th.
On the Russian adoption page, it says Admins should be inactive for at least 30 days before adoption can take place.
We could perhaps work together with this Max-88 user and adopt the wiki together? It seems a bit evil waiting for the 20th to come in an attempt to adopt the wiki, but I feel that it would probably benefit the wiki if he's really the only active member and we offered him this. How do you feel about that?
We poke the founder/admin guy, he might be just somewhere taking a break, and inform him that we're helping with fluffing up the wiki, and Max-88 would be his fellow admin in the actual wiki content. Problem is, since we don't know Russian, we don't know if Max will be okay with admin tools on his own or if his edits are okay in the wiki itself. He seems to be experienced in editing and wiki markup.
Google translate sucks at grammar arrangement, so I barely have any idea what the heck are in his wall and talk page.
Alright, I'll drop him a message with as dumbed down language as possible in the hope it will translate better.
The main problem may be trying to communicate how we run our version of the wiki. Personally, I'd prefer all the wikis running the same across the board but they may disagree to that. It may be quite difficult to communicate the way we do all of our images, references, categories and such.
I really wish there was a more accurate translator out there :/
It's all in Polish, but it just explains I come from this wiki and I've noticed none of the Admins are avaliable. Then I list some things we'd do if we were to become Admin, including general clean up, removal of unwanted images, new layout, etc. No one's replied but hopefully we get at least one responce. I'll keep it up for a week and with no responces that conflict, I'll put an application in.
Guess who found a wiki. Not that it was ever hidden or anything.
So awhile back I was asked by a Japanese fan to boot up a Japanese wiki and he gave me some translated content. I thought the wiki was deleted though, but I didn't realise our wiki uses JA instead of JP for Japan, so we also have a very small Japanese wiki I could clean up a bit more. It's not much work as there is very little content, but free translations so no one's complaining!
Wikis are weird. :/ Also, the create wiki thing helps with the language code so you might have suddenly imagined JP when the thing said JA :P
You might know some other versions, the "See also" in Help:Interlanguage links might help you or anyone discover more. Erm, is the Japanese version semi-active or inactive for now? Because I placed it in inactive, feel free to change it though.
